The Mood of Main Street

Good Morning and Happy Monday! On this morning's show (Money for Breakfast, between 6-9am) we are covering the Mood of Main Street. We do this once a month. We talk to local radio hosts, business owners and consumers from across the country and hear directly from them. It is, in my estimation, the best show we do! This morning, I would like you to blog back with your experiences. I will read about ... read more

Jobs Report Leaves Much to be Desired

Earlier this morning, we had two MAJOR announcements: one from the Federal Reserve Bank saying it’s going to add liquidity to the debt markets by increasing the term auctions, and the second from the Bureau of Labor Statistics on jobs. The jobs number was a big disappointment, noting that 63,000 jobs were lost in February. The specific statistics are even more depressing. A loss of 52,000 ... read more

Horoscopes: Hitting the Nail on the Head

So, I just vented to you – and I feel better, although you probably think I'm nuts. I am.  :) At least I'm passionate. As I sit here thinking about the past week, I am also reading my horoscope in the New York Post. Do you ever do that? I don't do it as much as I used to do, but sometimes I take a peek. I'm a Leo. Here's what my horoscope says: Be tough, be ruthless, but be fair as ... read more

The Political Playground Needs New Rules

It's the end of the week and I'm fired up. Fortunately for me -- and probably unfortunately for you -- I have to do some venting! What is the Democratic Party thinking? Who in their right mind would think that, in one of the closest contests in history, we should do a "redo" in Michigan and Florida? I understand that this contest on the Democratic side is the tightest that history’s probably ... read more

Which Billionaire Do You Want to Have Breakfast With?

Forbes just released its 22nd annual “World’s Billionaires List.” For the first time ever, the number of billionaires crossed into four figures, reaching 1,125. Microsoft's Bill Gates dropped to No. 3 and Warren Buffett took the top spot. Gates has been in the top spot for the past 13 years and even though his net worth increased by $2 billion to $58 billion, he was knocked out by Warren ... read more

CEO Confidence Index Hits 5-Year Low, Yet 83% of Those surveyed Say They Will NOT Cut Jobs

Are CEOs confident about the business environment and the economy? This morning I sat down with the chairman and CEO of Vistage International. Vistage International has 14,000 members in 16 countries. Combined, these companies (small and mid-sized businesses) account for $300 billion in annual revenue and more than 2.1 million jobs. Each quarter they release the CEO Confidence Index. Vistage ... read more

An Empowering Event

Yesterday, I participated in the second annual Global Summit for a Better Tomorrow at the United Nations. The event was arranged by Avon and UNIFEM (the United Nations Development Fund for Women) who have partnered to promote women's empowerment and help end violence against women. I moderated the event for the second year. Speakers included Chairperson and Avon CEO Andrea Jung, UNIFEM Executive ... read more

Oh, What a Night

. Last night I was invited to participate in Fox News' election-night coverage. What a blast! As you may recall, I blogged about the experience sitting in the Green Room on Super Tuesday. Last night was equally as memorable! Last time we were in a massive studio located on West 57th Street. It reminded me of Battlestar Galactica. This time we did most of our coverage from two studios within Fox ... read more

Should Bernanke Be Less Transparent?

The newly elected President takes office January 20, 2009, and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke’s term ends Jan. 21, 2010. Bernanke has to be renominated by the president and will be on the Board of Governors until 2020. It's a 14-year term.  Why do I mention this? Yesterday morning, as I covered Bernanke's speech to the Independent Community Bankers of America (about 1,600 bankers in the room), ... read more

How the White House Race Could Change Advertising

On my last blog about the youth vote I mentioned an article about Sen. Obama's Internet strategy and how it is being used to change the way corporations advertise. Well, this morning I interviewed the advertising executive from Publicis who wrote about it. Take a look. read more
