Dick Morris Isn't Happy With Obama and I Want Answers, Too

Yesterday I hosted Your World for Neil Cavuto, who's out on vacation. About 5 minutes before I went downstairs to the set, the EP (executive producer) told me that Norm Coleman, the former Senator of Minnesota, was going to break-in with a live press conference somewhere near the top of our show. If you’ve been in the news business for a while, I have, you know that breaking news is exciting, ... read more

Walmart and the Government: Same Page on Health Care?

Something VERY strange happened yesterday and I have a feeling there is more to it than meets the eye. While I was on the network filling in for Stuart Varney, a letter was released to the press from Walmart, the SEIU (a union representing a million people in this country) and John Podesta. The letter said “we are for an employer mandate which is fair and broad in its coverage. We look ... read more

Hollywood Thriving Amid Recession

Wondering how Hollywood is holding up in the recession? Look no further. This morning, a group of the best in the business joined me for a roundtable discussion on the reasons for Hollywood’s success. That group included Mike Medavoy, chairman and co-founder of Phoenix Pictures, who has produced 17 Academy Award-nominated films like “Rocky,” “Annie Hall,” Platoon,” One Flew Over the ... read more

Labor Secretary Solis on the Ugly Unemployment Numbers

This morning's job data was ugly. The unemployment rate is now up to 9.5%--the highest rate in 26 years. More than six million people have lost their job since the recession began in December 2007. Nine million would like to get a part-time job and cannot find one and 14.7 million are without work. It is disheartening! If there is one sign of hope it is that the numbers are declining. Back in ... read more

Taking Time to Breathe: Vacay Pictures

Good Morning Everyone! Sorry that I haven't written in days. I'm on vacation with my boys. Having a blast! So far we have spent a ton of time at the beach, in the pool and at camp. We had good friends over this past weekend. They have two boys so between us we had five boys below 7. Always insane! For some reason we seem to have tons of friends who all have boys! Murphy's law! The kids love it ... read more

Update on G8's commitment to Maternal Mortality and Millennium Development Goals

Late last night I emailed my colleagues working on the Maternal Mortality Campaign to see if any progress was made on Maternal Mortality. This is what he sent me at 2am this morning. 1. Specifically on the maternal Health bit:  "G8 endorsement of a new Global Consensus on maternal and newborn health provides a real opportunity going forward. It provides a powerful framework to accelerate action ... read more

My Journey from the Wall Street Trading Floor to the Anchor Desk

A little over a month ago I was interviewed by a colleague, frequent guest and friend of mine Julie Menin. In an in depth and very personal interview,  she asked me why I left Wall Street for television, what it was like working on the Today Show with Katie Couric and Matt Lauer and lessons learned in this financial crisis. Take a look at the interview ... read more

Is the Administration Doing Enough to Save Jobs?

I had the most exciting morning. So interesting and so dynamic. This is why I love my job. Last night I was on with Greta discussing the record federal budget deficit and what it means for us. Not pretty I hate to tell you! This morning I came in early and then ran over to GMA (Good Morning America) to talk about Goldman Sachs’s earnings, the deficit and unemployment. I then rushed back to my ... read more

One-on-One With Ron Gettelfinger

This morning on The Opening Bell, I spoke exclusively with Ron Gettelfinger, the UAW president, in the wake of GM’s emergence from bankruptcy. Ron and I have done many interviews over the past year. It has been a very difficult time for all involved and the UAW has been riddled with blame, some of it well-directed. Many people believe GM and Chrysler have been given a second lease on life. In ... read more
