How the Taser Chairman Almost Gave Me a Heart Attack

This morning Taser's Chairman & Co-Founder Tom Smith joined me in studio. My heart is still racing. He demonstrated how the new X3 model works and it almost gave me a heart attack.

Tom responded to the earnings announcement and talked about insurance costs, the record number of lawsuits they fight annually and whether cuts in state and municipal budgets are impacting the bottom line.

Look at the new X3 which has three cartridges as opposed to one. It allows a law enforcement official to taser more than one suspect.

It also has new and improved technology, which measures the size and magnitude of the voltage used. It has a small computer screen at the back which notifies the user of the amount of voltage and then measures and captures the amount of energy delivered to the living subject.

The company believes this new measurement tool will help reduce lawsuits and give them further proof of use in certain circumstances.

It's a very interesting story with technology that now measures 19 times per second the volt passing through the gun. It sounds like it could be a success with law enforcement officials but only time will tell when they start shipping them in late August.
