What Grade Would You Give Obama?

In this morning's roundtable discussion, we rated President Obama's performance on the economy. I guess you could call it a report card. Our three guests graded him on everything from the stimulus to job creation, consumer confidence and his ability to turn the economy around. The guests had very different points of views. Surprise! Surprise!

Here was my take -- or "Glick's Take":

    1. So far the stimulus looks like a lemon but the jury is still out & we cannot judge it in it's entirety.

    2. A second stimulus is dangerous. Did anyone see the CBO report last Thursday? Our nation's debt is out of control & becoming more terminal daily.

    3. The key is jobs. We have not done enough to heel jobs. This is why we need the stimulus dollars to get out to the right away and to the right projects.

Take a look. It was a very healthy debate about progress made and failed attempts to do more with those stimulus dollars.

I read the typo in the article and I remember think "Oh no, she's going to get skewered over that one..." and it looks like you did. LOL. That's too bad, but I digress. I think it's too early to give him anything but an estimated grade right now, because I think the end product will be worse than anything we can all imagine. Especially now, with a 60 seat majority in the Senate. I really don't like how he's going about it - this isn't stimulus, it's payola to his constituents in the old Chicago way! I don't like it a bit, so I'm hoping and praying mid-term elections at least give us a buffer. I hold no hope the President will wake up and move to the center like Bill Clinton - I just want to see a stronger defense in the legislature for now!

Obama has done more damage to this country in 6 months then Jimmy Carter (Up until now the worst president ever) did in 4 years. He's a communist at heart and its starting show. Two types of people voted for him, ignorant people or people that want something for nothing. Remember wealth isn’t shared, it’s earned. Look at California, the rest of the country will be there soon – Can’t wait for the next American Revolution.

I think he does not have a clue how things work in the real world. His handlers and advisors are misguided. The man is pushing through lots of legislation that will have a bad effect on the economy. This will result in the movement of jobs and the security industry to Europe and/or Asia. My prediction is that investment banking will move to London. The 2010 elections will result in the loss of a number of Democratic seats due to the continued high unemployment and high inflation.

I give Obama A+ on destroying the constitution. F on working for the greater good. A+ on making the public take notice that our government is out of control.

The key is Confidence; Confidence that our economic and political systems do work. Confidence that those who helped create this financial mess over the years are investigated, tried, and punished if convicted. Confidence that banks that are insolvent will be dealt with by the FDIC in their tried and proven manner. Confidence in our elected leaders that they have a basic grasp of economics and are working on aiding the system to right itself. Confidence that there will be vigorous debate on economic and tax policies by our elected officials and the public at large. Confidence that Washinton knows when to lead and when to step back when it comes to their proper role in our economy. Confidence that rational, clear thinking people are in positions of power and will put the long term interests of our nation ahead of political agendas and prejudices. I believe if the preceeding items were true there would be jobs, a sustained economic recovery, and renewed hope for our future. Unfortunately, the reality of our situation is the exact opposite of inspiring Confidence.

The office of the President is certainly proving to be "above his paygrade" for the junior Senator from IL. On the economy: Grade F: His stimulus was purely pork laden paybacks to the Unions. He has tripled the national debt....which will lead to many years of higher interest rates and lower capital expenditures by big business. Was his stimulus bill... the largest ever in history effective? Was it worth it? Did it stimulate anything? Well, unemployment has hit 30 year highs. The dollar is falling in value across currency markets. It costs more money to buy a cup of coffee at Starbucks than 1 share of stock in Citibank. Californina, and several other states are heading into bankruptcy soon. The stock market has fallen over 20% since his election victory. On educuation: Grade D. he refused to authorize funding for a voucher based school in Washington DC, despite his own children going to private schools. Foreign Relations: Grade F: His Cairo speech was a both a disaster and an embarrassment not to mention a swipe at Isreal. He believes his skillful charm and dialogue with Chavez and Ahmajinidad will make them less hostile towards America. His first act as President was to close Gitmo within and release known terrorists. This just hours after pledging to "protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. He can't speak extemperaneously; only with a telepromtpter is he partially able to answer "planted" questions at press conferences. He is a disaster!

Obama is a ZERO, a failure. Jobs and housing are the big issues and he has done nothing significant in either area.

I would give him a G if possible as a F would be too good, to give a SOCIALIST... Where's a copy of his long birth certificate? What is he hiding?

From what I hear, grading is contrary to Liberal ideals and philosophy since it apparently has a negative impact on self-esteem. So no grade for Obama. And I think you meant "heal" (as in make better ), not "heel" (as in grind them underfoot, or a command to a dog ). Although I could be wrong about that. :)

The key is jobs. We have not done enough to heel jobs. This is why we need the stimulus dollars to get out to the right away and to the right projects. What does this mean? What is a "heel job?"
