Been watching all of the protests in Iran? Heard about the coup in Honduras? Been hearing about attacks in Nigeria? The removal of US troops in Iraq & the auctioning off of oil & gas fields?
All of these stories address a growing number of politically instable governments. Is economic instability leading to political instability? This is something I discussed after the trip to Davos & the World Economic Forum.
What will the long-term ramifications of these protests be around the globe? My friend Ian Bremmer of Eurasia Group joined me this morning on the Opening Bell. He is fantastic! Although he did predict in Detroit at the summit a couple of weeks ago that Iran's protests would be off the headlines a week later. I think he was wrong on that call but you'll see what he says when I call him on it today. Good friends and great guests know that I won't let those moments pass especially on an issue as important as freedom.
Political unrest around the globe? What a joke - how about right here in the United States. There are over 600 tea parties planned for the 4th of July protesting the government. (Don't guess the media will cover political unrest here in the good ole USA).
The government in Washington is clueless.
