    Bremmer's View on U.S., Europe

Ian Bremmer, president of Eurasia Group and author of "The Fat Tail: The Power of Political Knowledge," joined me this morning on Money for Breakfast. In our last interview in Davos, Ian talked about the political and global risks associated with economic instability. He said the G20 would not be an effective place to address the current issues facing this economy and that the President, not Congress, needed to dictate policy decisions and resolutions to the current economic crisis.

It was fascinating to catch up with each other just five weeks later to talk about the instability in Europe, particularly given the weakness among East European countries and the role that China will play in the economic recovery. He also gave the President and members of Congress a report card to date. It was a great conversation. Ian can speak about some of the most complicated political and economic concepts and he does it in English.

Ironically, just a couple days ago he appeared at an event with Treasury Secretary Geithner. They spent some time together. We discussed how understaffed the Treasury Department currently is and how that is in part derailing the Treasury Department from addressing and fixing some of the most complex problems facing our economy. Ian touches on this and a whole lot more in this interview. I promise you'll be impressed. He's someone you want to listen to.
