BMC Thriving as Companies Put Focus on Efficiency

This morning on The Opening Bell (my program from 9-10 a.m. ET), I interviewed the CEO of BMC Software. BMC is an enterprise software company. What's enterprise software? It's software that offers businesses a suite of products aimed at creating more productivity and efficiency. The company's software is typically used by corporations' IT (Information Technology) departments and works especially well with businesses that have online shopping or payment processing.

BMC, like many companies in its field, is firing on all cylinders. It couldn't be better positioned given the fact that more corporations are cutting back on big IT spending projects and focusing on efficiency. IT departments are telling BMC that they need companies like BMC to help them create greater efficiency. They want to be smarter, faster and stronger, and BMC can help them do that without big cap ex investments.

Take a look. I was very impressed with Bob Beauchamp. Offline he said that morale at BMC is very high. In fact, it has never been better. They made the necessary cut backs and changes in the last tech bubble. They are well positioned for this type of environment.
