There is of course, a way out of this mess, but we will never find it because we refuse to look. Too many are worried about saving face and humbling themselves to the fact that so many mistakes were strewn together that even Einstein probably could not have made sense of the mess. My only hope is that we will ultimately decide to turn to the TRUE answer for the woes of the world.

Could something deeper be working in the global marketplace and economy that the narrow minded have missed? Yes,that includedes the zealots in capiital hill too. Alvin Toffler believes that a new economics are around the corner. New Wave vs old waved. The new wave is Knowledge ecomonics. The old wave is the industerial one which had been propped by those who support it; but the knowledge economics could even shake the foundations of far left. Why? Since the far left clings to the old marxist ideas, prosumer would emerge as having more power than left wing know it alls. The left and right wings who exploit change for thier own gains would be swept away by the new knowledge economics. Toffler explained that change is meta message and that idealogues of left and right are being dangerous using this word. Still imagine how powerless a politician of both stripes would feel when the prosumer doesn't like thier worn out ideas. Think about the future.

When it comes to raising taxes on people who make more than $250,000 I think Mccain is missing the biggest argument. What about the people and businesses that work for them ? I am a metal frame and drywall contractor in South Florida and I make less than half of Obama`s cut off point for being privileged , but I make a decent living and the people who work for me make a decent living and we all pay income tax on the after tax dollars that we receive from ” the privileged few ” . If we raise taxes on incomes over $250,000 they will simply cut back on spending and that will be a direct hit for people and businesses like mine who make $60,000 to $100,000 a year working for ” the privileged few ” . Senator Obama , I don`t need you to take their money and spread it around to people who don`t earn it , if you provide quality goods and services they give it freely.

The only difference that we can make right now to save this country and capitalism as we know it is to vote for every true free-market conservative that is running this election. Obama realizes that his tax hikes on the top 5% (those making 153K and above and NOT 250K like he claims) will have a significant drag on the economy, but he is willing to sacrifice all of that for the "greater good" of spreading the wealth around. America better wake up between now and election day and decide what kind of country it wants to have. Socialism has never worked anywhere its been tried, so what makes the Dems think it will work in America?

Positive and negative thought Rules the world, for good or ill When the great world leaders, the statesmen, the financiers, editors, publishers, economists, those who direct and influence the thoughts of millions in every part of the globe, permit depressed thoughts to enter into their scheme, then depressed thoughts and fear vibrations enter into the scheme of those same millions and business comes to a near standstill.

You wrote: "The future is not in the hands of the few on Capitol Hill, but in the hands of each and everyone one of us when we show up to the polls." I wish I could believe that, Alexis, but I don't. Maybe in four years, but not this year. Why? Because there is no true fiscal conservative in the presidential race, at least not one with a chance of winning (Chuck Baldwin of the Constitution Party will, in all likelihood, lose - duh). And since both majority parties want to spend, spend, spend (they just differ on who should get the bailouts/handouts), congressional elections won't matter either. Perhaps a severe recession or even a depression is what it will take to bring some new voices to the arena - REAL mavericks who represent REAL change, not these two who are just different sides of the same coin.

You people are delusional. America has 10 Trillion dollars worth of internation debt, and another 40 trillion of domestic debt. The only way to stay positive is to save your money, stop living on debt, and prepare for tough times ahead. I can't believe that after all that is happening, there are still people at Fox news spreading false hope. This is not the time to just stay positive. This is the time to do something to achieve positivity. Staying positive alone won't achieve anything. It's like what your government does, keeps printing money to stay positive but only further devaluing the dollar. This article is ridiculous. God bless America and I hope the real intellectuals and sensible people step-up to salvage your country.

Now here's something to think about within the global marketplace. At one time OPEC controled the barrel oil price with its million dollar cuts in production. Now it's not case anymore. What has happened? Apperiently a powershift within the marketplace has happened. No longer due petty dictators, shieks which run OPEC no longer have the influence nor the power to influence the barrel price on the world stage. Once again this could be an example of a lack of synchorinicity in the marketplace. The shift of power has now moved into the hands of the speculators. Despite the pruduction cut it prorves that OPEC has lost its dominance on the world trade stage. Now as of this morning with a global market meltdown maybe about to take place could OPEC now be insificant? Still a powershift has taken place and OPEC has lost that power.

Thanks Alexis, Everyone should take what you said and tape it to their mirror so they can start each day with that attitude. As for the election, maybe some of the over the top negative reporting could be somewhat politically motivated. While we certainly have our problems maybe they are being spotlighted constantly to the point of creating fear and panic as a way of pushing a political ideology. I don't think much of the good news gets out there because it would not serve the intended purpose. We are told over and over that people and businesses cannot get financing when the fact is that lending is simply reverting to what it should have always been. Loans should always be restricted to those who can show the ability to repay what they borrow, period. I for one believe that some very positive things can come out of this whole mess. Maybe we will begin to reduce our personal debt and simplify our lives a little. We as a nation need to learn to live within our means (which are very great indeed) and not allow, or even encourage, people to borrow that which they have no ability to repay. It would be nice if our government set a little better example of this practice. The past several years we have been admonished for not saving as we should. I hope that those of us who had been saving will not be discouraged by what has happened in the past year to our savings and that those who hadn't been saving will see why it is absolutely in their best interest to do so. We truly can come out of this stronger as a nation and better prepared for whatever challenge is in our future.

"We give ourselves one more chance..." -Queen/Bowie We need to hear more of the positive and why not? If we don't have hope then what do we have? Let's create more and build upon American pride on top of American pride. I'm tired of the negative. It is like a sickness these people have, a creation of a negative environment because that is all they know. Enough. America is a wonderful place and it is ours. BTW, you rock, Alexis! "Ah, people asking questions lost in confusion Well I tell them there's no problem, only solutions Well they shake their heads and they look at me as if I've lost my mind I tell them there's no hurry I'm just sitting here doing time" -John Lennon

Alexis, Great posting. I'm a new fan who has been listening to the show on XM on my drive into work in the morning. It is refreshing to have your perspective above amidst all the continual doom and gloom and several hundred point swings each day. Your sentiments are just what we need--a wake up call for us to look at the great things that are happening and how America when we put our mind to it can accomplish anything. I'm confident we'll pull out of this mess stronger than before.

Have you ever thought that if the boys across the river kept their hands (err mouths) out of messing with the rest of the market - that it might also settle down into reality? Might be worth a try!

It's about time someone is focusing on all of the positives as opposed to all of the doom and gloom that is rampant in the media. By focusing on the negative, we create more of the negative. Everyone gets scared, pulls their money out of investments, decides not to buy the new 52" flat screen TV, take that road trip to the Grand Canyon, etc. However, by talking about the positives, like you just did, it gives people more confidence to go out and spend (wisely) their hard-earned money. You have a new fan...
