Tackling the Budget Deficit

By Alexis Glick

This morning on Money for Breakfast we talked about the record breaking budget deficit predictions for next year with former Governor Jesse Ventura, Ron Haskins of Brookings and Jordan Goodman, author of Fast Profits in Hard Times.

Between the three, they universally agreed that fighting this budget deficit is a monumental task and talk of any additional stimulus package is unrealistic. Jesse, who is not afraid to let his thoughts be known, feels that the mounting deficit of $10-$12 billion a month to fight the war on Iraq and provide international aid to others when our country is hurting is the first thing that needs to be fixed. Look at what Jesse, Ron and Jordan had to say about how to fix the problem.

Neither party has ever had a budget. All they do is have a spending plan and then try to find the money usually by higher taxes! Good job alexis trying to get specific on the candidates plans if elected, but can they get anything done remains to be seen!

Neither party in congress doesn’t want to deal pork and waste which often appears in thier admendments on bills. Presidental Candidates tend to turn the other way when it comes to such issues. Congress partianship and wasteful spending has only hurt. What needs to be done is wasteful spending, earmarking needs to be dealt with. Most companies run thier budgets better than the federal goverment. If not dealt with future americans will share a heavy burden. Passing the buck to the next generation has to stop.
