My Interview With Sen. Barack Obama

By Alexis Glick

Hello from Pittsburgh! I’m here right now covering Sen. Barack Obama’s economic summit. Earlier today, I had the chance to chat with the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee about everything from oil to the White House race.

Some tidbits from our interview…

Sen. Obama said another stimulus package and a permanent $1,000 tax cut for individuals and families may be needed to “get the economy back on the right track.”

And as for oil, which settled at a new record of $139 a barrel just today, Sen. Obama said this :“Consumer confidence is at an all-time low, gas prices are at all-time high and the housing market still hasn’t been stabilized which is putting a lot of pressure on the Fed to juice up the economy at the same time its dealing with inflation. Having a serious energy plan and looking at the possible speculation in the oil futures market could have a difference at least in alleviating some of the upward pressure on oil prices.”

Take a look.

I lose respect for Sen. Obama when he caves in and appears on Fox. He should never appear on the network.

When it comes to the issue of crude and drilling off the gulf coast,Obama doesn’t want to take a short term solution route for the time being. As usual Harvard educated lawyers don’t see the bigger picture like corporate ceo’s do. Obama present long term soulutions only. With consumer hurting at the pump from his native Chicago to the rural areas of the Southeast, his long term solutions of energy have fallen on deaf ears. His no to drilling off the coast actually flys in the face of public opioin which is for it and that includes his own liberals too. This is a perception of weak leadership to take. When it comes to economics he comes across as the one who is naive. Harvard educated liberals don’t have concepts what the mainstreet goes through. Leveling wind fall taxes and nationalizes oil companies isn’t the answer. It only shows shortsightness on thier part. Another problem Senator Obama has is the fact that voters know him by name but not the indiviual who he really is. Even though his people are running a real smart commercial as to who he is to connect with mainstreet. Still he’s the new kid on the block and I find his left wing affeliations in Chicago questionable to say the least. But honestly lawyers are naive on economics. U can present long term solutions and raise taxes but he comes across to me as the one presenting gimmick not McCain.

Any “serious energy plan” would include drilling domestically. Earth to Planet Obama, why go to school, after all it won’t pay off for years (a donkey is certainly the most appropriate symbol for Obamacrats)!

Next point: If a “permanent $1,000 tax cut for individuals and families may be needed,” why not $2,000 or even more?

And, from this Vietnam Vet to Sgt. Sally, based on your comment, why are you reading and blogging Fox?
