Could This Be the End?
By Alexis Glick
As I mentioned in my earlier blog today marks an end to the Democratic primary and caucus process. After 6 months and 61 contests, 31 delegates are up for grabs today in South Dakota and Montana and many believe and can prove that Sen. Barack Obama will now have the margin he needs with the support of the super delegates to win the Democratic nomination for president of the United States. It has been a long, hard fought battle between two excellent competitors. One of the best campaigns in U.S. history!
This morning we took a look at the dollars involved and why this campaign has produced record contributions for both Democratic candidates. Through April Obama has raised $265 million and Clinton has raised $215 million, historic, ground breaking figures. The dollars spent on media buys another record breaking figure with Obama spending $75 million on TV advertisements and Clinton spending $46 million.
So where will campaign fundraising go from here? Alex Johnson a former McCain and Romney fundraiser and Evan Tracey from TNS Media Intelligence who released and tracked many of these figures joined me on Money for Breakfast this morning.
Before you watch the video just a couple brief facts that I didn’t know ahead of today’s primaries in South Dakota and Montana courtesy of our Fox Business Economist Mark Lieberman.

One of the best campaigns in history?? Are you nuts!?
This has been the longest campaign in history and if anything
we should have legislation that limits the Presidential election to no more than 6 months.
We have three senators who have done nothing but run for a higher office while getting paid for not doing their jobs. I wish I could get that deal. Legislation requiring members of Congress to resign before running for office would get my vote.
The country has suffered through endless rhetoric and political hot air which probably had more to do with global warming than anything else. And we’re not done yet!
Sorry Alexis, this has to be one of the worst campaigns in history.

Appreciated you having included the statistics about SD and Montana ahead of the story. Nice touch! Helps gain a “local” perspectice on what might happen there vote wise.
Thanks
