One Family Seeks Out American History…in an RV
By Alexis Glick
Imagine this…..gasoline and diesel prices are going through the roof…..yet you decide to leave your home, get an RV and travel across the country for 16-18 months! Sound like National Lampoons vacation? Or the latest Robin Williams RV movie? Well….your’re right, only this case it’s not a vacation!!!
This morning I met the Taylor Family, Dan, Jennifer and their two sons Mason and Griffin. After Jennifer was diagnosed with an illness that forced her to take early retirement, she decided along with her husband Dan to come up with a way to spend more quality time with her kids.
Jennifer and Dan home school their kids and decided the best way to learn American history is to experience it face to face and visit some of the nation’s most famous spots. So they left home, bought an rv and thus far have traveled 4,000 miles.
Are they spending a small fortune on fuel prices? Yes. Have they made adjustments? Yes. Is this trip costing them more money on the road traveling in an RV verus staying at home? NO. Take a look at the creative way they found a family to lease their home, while they travel across the country on a trip of a lifetime!

This is still a great way to see our beautiful country. Imagine all the people that never get out of the “hood”. Even with high fuel prices you save on hotel/motels and also on restaurants since you can buy and cook. I wish I was with them!

Wonderful Story!
As long as they can keep paying for the gas I say ..Go For it!
We have a beautiful Country and how better to teach a child about it than to let them see it first hand!
I would love to do this!

What a woderful way to introduce your children to our country and experience it again for your self.
While the cost of fuel will be a drain, the things, history and people they will meet, I’m sure will be worth it all. July 18th,2008 my wife and I will start a 2-3 year trip, at Yellowstone Nat.Park, Clockwise around the perimeter of the USA seeing as many friends, relatives, Historlcal Parks and sites as possible. Ending up in the north western corner of Washington and maybe Alaska, Health permitting.
May God continue to bless your travels and enrich your family.
