A Sneak Peak Into FOX’s Fall Line Up
By Alexis Glick
Are you like me and somewhat obsessed with the Fox primetime brand? Fan of Prison Break? 24? American Idol? They happen to be three of my favorite shows on television!
This morning I had the great pleasure of sitting down with Peter Liquori, Fox Entertainment chairman. He’s the man responsible for everything in primetime: new shows, new models, changes in branding, FX, you name it. He happens to have a very enviable job and a very difficult job!
This past season (which is almost complete), Fox had a tremendous victory. Fox primetime beat the competition (ABC, CBS and NBC) by a 40% margin. That’s the biggest recorded win in TV history! How did they do that? By daring to be different, by taking chances and building on the American Idol phenomenon.
Tomorrow Fox will reveal in the upfront season here in New York, their fall lineup. If you are wondering what the upfront’s are all about, it’s pretty simple. This is the week where each of the network’s pitch their primetime shows (some old and some new) to Madison avenue (where the advertising community resides). The goal is to get as much ad dollars committed to the line-up as soon as possible. After all it’s not cheap to make TV shows. One episode could cost $3 million.
You want a peak at where the industry is headed, what Fox has up its sleeve, when your favorite shows will debut and why Seth MacFarlane is all the rage? Take a look.

More brainless tv for the brainless masses.

I’m looking forward to the 24 movie when it comes out this fall. And I’m looking forward to the return of the Sarah Conner Chronicles.
