For Every Dollar He Gets She Makes 77 Cents

Did you know that today is Equal Pay Day and that according to the U.S. Census Bureau, women make 77 cents for every $1 a man makes?

This morning I interviewed Benita Fitzgerald Mosely, the CEO & President of Women in Cable Telecommunications. WICT conducts a survey annually called the PAR Initiative, which stands for Pay Equity, Advancement Opportunities and Resources for Work/Life Support. This survey looks at 40 companies in the cable industry and looks at their equal pay policies.

It is an important story and there is legislation now pending in the Senate called the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act. It passed in the House. If it is enacted, it will make amendments to the Civil Rights Act of 1964 regarding discrimination in pay.
