Three Interviews You Can’t Miss!

By Alexis Glick

This morning after the show, I did three post-tapes. What are post-tapes? They’re interviews that we tape and then run on the show at a later date. All three post-tapes were very cool. I’m not supposed to tell you about them… but I can’t hold myself back.

I interviewed the chief business officer for the United States Golf Association [USGA] about growth in the golf business. A study conducted by the Golf Economy Report, compiled by SRI International, said the golf business added $76B dollars to the U.S. Economy in 2005 — up from $62B dollars in 2000. Those numbers are even bigger today. Corporate sponsored tours and tournaments are booming, with the likes of Dell, American Express and Mercedes-Benz getting in the game. Where is it headed and what impact is Tiger having on the sport? What will happen next week when the first of the four majors at Augusta National, the Masters, kicks off? You’ll have to tune in to Money for Breakfast to find out!

The second interview was with Chikezie, the latest American Idol cast-off who my kids and I adore. I was sad to see him go, but happy to tell you that he is just as genuine in person as he is on stage or on camera. Stay tuned for that interview on Wednesday. His personal story of working in an airport screening luggage to becoming one of American Idol’s top ten is very special and the essence of the American Dream!

The third interview was with the co-founder of Kidville, an activity center for children from newborns to 5-year-olds. He and his wife created the business after he left Cosi – you know Cosi, the sandwich and salad shop. He started Cosi ten years ago and there are now 200 franchises across the country. He took them public. Didn’t know what to do next. Had a baby girl, looked at his wife and said, let’s do what we always do – or, as he calls it, “master of the obvious.” They looked at their daughter and now son and decided to open kids facilities across the country with the help of some big name investors like the Tisch Family, Stern Family and tennis pros Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf. It’s a very cool story. You’ll love it.

    Glick,

I am a golf lover but would be really interested in someones take on the “Golf Course Glut”. See if you can raise the question on the state of too many courses to support next week. The % of them that go BK at least once is very high…
