Back from the Caymans
By Alexis Glick
I’m back!!!! Sorry it took me 24 hours to post my first blog. You know what it’s like when you return back to work after being away for a week. A lot happens while you are away, and there is so much to catch up on.
The Cayman Islands were great. My boys had a blast! The weather was beautiful. The submarine trip that I started to tell you about was so cool. We did in fact go down over 100 feet! I had never been in a submarine before. It was really amazing. You couldn’t feel a thing and the kids loved it.
So many other cool experiences to tell you about! One day we went swimming with stingrays! I seriously had to think twice about getting off the boat when I saw them. In Grand Cayman there is a place that they call the Stingray City Sandbar where you stand in about three feet of sand and the stingray’s swim right up to you. It was surreal! I know what you are thinking: Steve Irwin. Thank God in hindsight that I didn’t put two and two together or else I never would have gone in the water. Perhaps in hindsight I erased the Irwin story from my memory. I couldn’t go home without trying it. The eerie part is how they swarm around you. I held on to our guides Sun and Danny for dear life. Two lovely Jamaican men who may still be checking their arms for circulation
We also, get this, went night snorkeling! I must have been out of mind. It was amazing but also very scary. We went with two guides and about eight other people, mostly kids (10 and up). We put on our snorkel gear at the beach and swam out from the beach into the ocean. It still freaks me out. One of the guides was in a small kayak. As if that was going to help anyone if we were in danger! It was another first. Snorkeling with a flashlight. It was quite beautiful and we saw all kinds of beautiful tropical fish. We swam for about an hour and my husband was very proud of me. Honestly, if it wasn’t for all those 10 year olds, I’m not sure if I would have done it. The minute we arrived back on land I went straight to the bar to get a drink and hopped into the hot tub. Calmed the nerves
The best part of the whole trip was being with my family! We all (you and me), work so hard and live in a society where breaks are often overlooked. It was my first one-week vacation in a year and a half and it was everything I hoped for and more! My oldest Logan (6 years old) made tons of friends and spent most of his days in the pool with his younger brother Kyle (4 years old) and their newfound friends Matthew and Sean. My baby Slate (15 months old) couldn’t and wouldn’t sit still and had every hotel guest and employee eating out of the palm of his hand. Everywhere we went, he was the main attraction! He has a big belly and a chubby body and with his baby Crocs, he stole the show! Everyone looked at my husband and me with the three boys and either took pity or asked if we were going to go for a girl. We were in bliss!! Thanks in large part to Alex, our beautiful NYU senior, who joined us mid-trip to give my husband and I a little downtime. That was a treat!
Here are some pictures that I thought I would share with you, my friends and family!

The Irish start early with the bottle don’t they. Great pictures of a beautiful family. The family vacations are the best and full of menories. When the children grow up they don’t enjoy the family vacation as much as they do now.
