The Bank Job: Full of Suspense and Intrigue

By Alexis Glick

On Friday afternoon I saw a movie that I can’t stop thinking about and highly recommend: The Bank Job. It’s a home run. Three minutes into the movie you are hooked. It’s one of the best movies that I have seen in years. My husband and I looked at each other after five minutes and had that giddy look on our faces. We see movies all the time and we haven’t seen this kind of suspense and intrigue in years. It’s based on a true story of a bank robbery that took place in 1971. Go see it! Trust me you’ll love it :)

Here is a brief description from Yahoo! and some reviews.

A car dealer with a dodgy past and new family, Terry has always avoided major-league scams. But when Martine, a beautiful model from his old neighborhood, offers him a lead on a foolproof bank hit on London’s Baker Street, Terry recognizes the opportunity of a lifetime. Martine targets a roomful of safe deposit boxes worth millions in cash and jewelry. But Terry and his crew don’t realize the boxes also contain a treasure trove of dirty secrets - secrets that will thrust them into a deadly web of corruption and illicit scandal that spans London’s criminal underworld, the highest echelons of the British government, and the Royal Family itself…the true story of a heist gone wrong…in all the right ways.

 Cast Members:

Jason Statham, Saffron Burrows, Stephen Campbell Moore, Daniel Mays, James Faulkner

 Reviews:

Chicago Tribune:  ”Slick, ice-cold and enjoyable.”

Entertainment Weekly:  ”A no-frills movie about a real-life heist that delivers old-fashioned thrills.”

New York Post:  complicated and clever imagining of what might have happened in the mysterious 1971 London bank heist.”

Los Angeles Times: “A masterful narrative full of odd twists and dark humor.”

USA Today: “Well-paced, smartly told and unpretentious, this solid British heist thriller also has moments of invention and imagination.”

I would love to see this one. On DVD whenever a theatrical release is now out; get the unrated director’s cut. Becouse it would have scenes that aren’t in the original. The one I want to get is I AM LEGEND with Will Smith. The opening scene with sports car and the deer blows u away in midtown Mahattan.

I’ll take your advice on the movie. You’ve not steered me wrong yet. Thanks for the review. I don’t know anyone who has seen this yet. With Jason Stratham and Saffron Burrows, even if the movie needed a little work, the eye candy is there in the meantime. ;-)
