Ron Paul’s Inflationary Recession

By Alexis Glick

Just finished interviewing Congressman Ron Paul about the economy and Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke’s testimony. He questioned him on the Hill yesterday about the weak U.S. dollar and how it is having negative ramifications. He says we are at a period that we have not seen in U.S. history. He did say that he thought we were in a recession but he called it an INFLATIONARY RECESSION. He is the first person that I have heard say that! He is very concerned about the dollar and currencies and talked about how more Country’s and investors are seeking hard assets (commodities) over currencies. This comes on the heels of an announcement by Calpers that it plans to invest an additional $7B in commodities. They have a $240B dollar fund and only started investing in commodities last March.

I urge you to take a look at what the Congressman had to say.

Thank you! Finally someone on FoxNews is giving Ron Paul some credible air time. The issues we face as a nation are too substantial to overlook someone who is interested in real change for the better.

    Kudos to you Ms. Glick.

    Alexis,

Yesterdays statement by Bernanke had me scratching my head due to the circular reasoning that he was not willing to admit to.

Thanks for having Congressman Paul on as it really helped to clarify the issue.

I guess my only question remaining is why is he the only one talking about it? One would think that congress would want to act on the obvious. I suppose there are special interests at play here that just don’t want to fix the problem as it may loosen their strangle hold on the economy.

Freedom scares some, so does the truth, thanks for giving us a glimpse at both.

Thank you for your wonderful coverage of Dr. Paul.

He is the only candidate with a true grasp of what is happening in the economy.

    Alexis,

Wonderful interview with Congressman Paul. It appears you really understand what is going on in the economy today. I have been a supporter of Congressman Paul’s for a good 6 months (it’s only been 6 months since the MSM doesn’t provide any real information about him) now. I generally like his stance on liberty and freedom in general. I was completely ignorant as to how our economy really works, what the Federal Reserve really is, etc. When I became interested in Congressman Paul’s run for the Presidency he made me start doing some research. The more I found out, the madder I became with our “representatives” in Washington. Congressman Paul not only knows and speaks about the clear problems with our economic and monetary system but he also offers solutions. He has introduced two bills in congress, “Honest Money Act” (HR 2756) and “Free Competition in Currency Act” (HR 4683), that could be a start to the solution of our problems. Perhaps you could have him on in another segment to discuss these two bills and what it could mean in getting our country back to some economic stability.
Thanks again for your honest reporting,

    ALEXIS:

I am a Ron Paul supporter for whom “the economy” was not the big issue. After reading some of Dr. Paul’s writings on the subject, listening to him talk about it during this campaign season, and looking over his congressional voting record, I am convinced he is the only candidate with an intellectual grip on economics. Thank-you for having him on your show, and for asking such intelligent and engaging questions yourself.

Just wanted to say thanks for a good interview and fair coverage. When he is allowed to speak, Congressman Paul regularly demonstrates that he is the smartest guy in the room, and this is especially true when it comes to the economy. His no-nonsense, straight-forward and honest assessment of our current situation is cogent and refreshing. I am glad that at least your viewers got to hear/read this.

Thank you Ms. Glick for having Dr. Paul on your show. It was a great interview and I hope you will have him on again soon. He is the only candidate who has the courage to tell the truth. Unfortunately the vast majority of voters, and even the other candidates do not understand economics.

Thank you Alexis! I am a Ron Paul supporter and I really enjoyed your insightful interview. Look forward to seeing more of you in the future!

    Ms.Glick,

Thank you for having the guts to interview Dr Paul. It’s too bad your male FOX compatriots don’t have the (Please pardon the expression) Cojones to do the same. The fact that you did the interview shows people that there may be a small glimmer of light coming from the “Main Stream Media”. I applaud you and those that supported you.
It amazes me that almost all of Dr Paul’s predictions have come to pass. The FED and the govt are seriously depreciating the dollars worth, and it’s catching up to us.
I as a small business owner started seeing the effects of this devaluation a few years ago. While our business has been good for the last couple of years the costs are skyrocketing. If I worked alone and the markets crashed, and all the possible worst case events were to occur, I would be able to survive. I would fear more for my 13 employees and their families.
Dr Paul needs to get his message across to the American people.
Thanks to you, many more are better informed.

    Sincerely yours

    Dr Dave

Isn’t it interesting that while Dr. Paul is running 2 campaigns, he is still working. Ms. Glick, hats off to you for “getting it” and giving Dr. Paul an opportunity to have a meaningful exchange with the media. You are a true professional and I hope more Americans tune into what Dr. Paul is saying. Regardless of the election in November, Dr. Paul curing America’s apathy. The movement is about just that: movement. Get off the couch and get involved America!

    Alexis,

Thank you and Congressman Ron Paul for an honest report on this very important issue (I mean how much more important does it get than our money is dying?). Not only do I sincerely believe that Republican Presidential Candidate Ron Paul is the only candidate in any of the parties that truly understands this grave problem but I also believe he is the only one that offers a workable solution . As one of the bloggers above has already mentioned Congressman Paul has introduced two bills in Congress; the “Honest Money Act” (HR 2756) and “Free Competition in Currency Act” (HR 4683) but I would also like to mention his understanding that it’s not just our monetary policy but our foreign policy as well at the core of this problem and he’s been systematically pointing this out to Congress for twenty years. If only they would listen and live up to their responsibilities. Of course none of his solutions are radical, they’re fundamental, and they’ve been there in the wide open all this time for every to see in the supreme law of the land, The Constitution of The United States of America…go figure.

There can be no liberty without honest money. Without honest money, the corporations and bankers run the show. Think Im kidding? Take a good look at what fiat currency has done to our economy. Corporations are punished for saving and punished with stifling regulations.

‘Banking institutions are more dangerous to liberty than standing armies.’ Thomas Jefferson

The solution coming out of the White House? MORE INFLATION!!! The 160B bail out is nothing more than massive inflation. So when everyone gets their $600 check, it will only purchase $550 in goods. This is crushing our seniors on fixed incomes. Its immoral and downright evil.

The income tax is nothing more than a subtle form of slavery. Nothing will change until we get rid of the Federal Reserve. It is the root of the corruption in DC.

I wish more reporters and Americans in general understood our monetary system, how it came to power and what we can do to CHANGE it.

‘If the American people understood monetary policy today, there would be revolution tomorrow.’ Henry Ford

I sincerely hope something changes before its to late. If we dont change soon, our country is doomed.

America is worth fighting for. Iraq is not.

    Madam Glick,

Are you trying to get me to watch FOX news again? There are a lot of things that Dr. Paul will say that no other politician will say and he is absolutely right. He may not get to lead this country in the official sense, but I hope you understand that he is leading it in every other sense. I hope that you are on board even if its not politically

Outstanding interview of Ron Paul. The more people educate themselves about the Fed and monetary policy the better off we’ll be. You are doing a great service to the nation. Keep up the good work.

”If the American people ever allow private banks to control the issue of their currency, first by inflation, then by deflation, the banks…will deprive the people of all property until their children wake-up homeless on the continent their fathers conquered…. The issuing power should be taken from the banks and restored to the people, to whom it properly belongs. . . . The modern theory of the perpetuation of debt has drenched the earth with blood, and crushed its inhabitants under burdens ever accumulating.”

Alexis, bless your heart! From the mom of kids delivered many years ago by Presidential candidate, Congressman Ron Paul, we supporters salute you. Dr. Paul has been steadfast over the years about keeping the Federal Government from totally running our lives. He never wavers and always says “It’s not the man, but the message”. We love him, and we love you for your interview with him and your positive words. Good work, girl!

    Alexis,

Thank you for giving Dr. Paul the chance to tell the TRUTH once again on what is happening to our economy.

It is a sad day in our country when people that are telling the TRUTH get shunned by the Media and kept away from the people. Most people, that are willing to listen to Dr. Paul, join him as a supporter.

We just read in the newspaper today that Bush says there is No Chance of a Recession. Could that be because we are already in one?

We trade forex and, being the Patriot we are, lost a fortune since August of last year because we purchased the dollar and it crashed against all other currencies.

In the last couple of days we bet against the dollar and made over $2000. This was with just 1 unit. We tell ALL of you this to let you know the dollar fell over 300 pips, against the yen, in less than 2 days.

The World is dumping dollars at an alarming rate and Bernanke and Bush are saying there is not a Recession coming.

Just like Alex has suggested we also suggest purchasing commodities as well as precious metals. Believe it or not silver is probably the best since it has a history of increasing at a higher percentage than any of the other precious metals.

Wow, it is so great to finally see a real interview from a politician who has real issues and policies to talk about. Your interview was well conducted and covered a lot of ground in a little bit of time. I’m sure it clarified a lot for voters who are considering the economy as their number one issue. Ron Paul is clearly the only candidate who address our problems at stake, with real solutions. Thank you so much for letting other people realize how smart, fierce and brave Dr. Ron Paul is! I couldn’t imagine ANY other candidate putting the pressure on Bernake like Dr. Paul did; A real American Hero in my books.

    Alexis,

I appreciate your concern over our current economic situation. Personally, I feel it is THE most important issue facing our country today. Dr. Paul continues to communicate the truth about this subject and I thank you for broadcasting this message and helping to educate the unsuspecting public. The Fed is exacerbating the problem and I fear the result could be quite damaging to our country.

Thank you for having an open-eyed politician who actually knows economics on your show.

Your segment was an incredibly refreshing change from most of the happy sunshine economic “gurus” (from investment houses) who are advising to short commodities to buy financials for the past two months.

Perhaps you can do a segment on how reportage of the CPI changed under Clinton (and as a corollary how Social Security recipients and being intentionally shortchanged by the “CORE” rate.)

    Alexis,
Thank you for allowing Ron Paul on your show and conducting a responsible and honest interview with the Congressman. It is unfortunate that your other newscasters at Fox have tended to ignore Ron Paul and his message, which is about the Constitution of the U.S. and our liberties. It seems that the Main Stream Media has been trying to pick our candidates for us and shove this “corruption as usual” down our throats. I hope that you actually understand the severity of the “MONETARY MELTDOWN” that has been occurring since the establishment of the Fiat Currency. It would be very good of you if you would continue to have Ron Paul on your show to explain to the people what is happening with the Congress, the Monetary System, and the World Economy. I also want to applaud you for not badgering Dr. Paul with questions as to when he will drop out of the Presidential race or when he will endorse another candidate.
    Again thanks,

    Dear Alexis,

I want to personally thank you for giving Dr. Paul the opportunity to further explain his debate with Ben Bernacke about our economy and the woes we face as a nation. All of us Ron Paul supporters know that the mass media is key to getting the views expressed by the candidates out to the majortity, and by having you give him that chance it was a glorious site to see. It warms my heart to know that we can count on certain individuals in the “system” to help get his message across to those who have never heard of him.

Being a combat Vet from the Iraq war and living the experience over there I am pleased to see you help by giving Dr. Paul a chance on your broadcast. His views on the Iraq War hit very close to many veterans and active military serving there, and maybe that is why he gets more support from them than any other candidate. So please keep your word by giving him another interview as soon as you can on your show!

Thank you Thank you Thank you!

    Alexis,

You are perhaps the only living breathing news person on FOX, who cares about real issues, and in depth analysis, I am amazed! you dare to look at double talk and read between the lines, ie. Bernake, your remarks are insightful.

Several weeks ago, the day before the stock plunge! The congressional budget committee interviewed Bernake. Bernake stated that the USA, financially would hit the point of no return, with in the next 10 to 20 years, regarding our entitlement and spending programs.

Would you please, contact C-Span, and review his testimony before that committee, and do a piece on that debacle.

Your right on target, the American people need to know the truth, so they can make intelligent decisions based on facts. It would seem your the only Journalist that cares to question and report the facts!

    Ms. Glick,

Thank you for the excellent interview with Congressman Ron Paul on the current state of the economy. Because of Dr. Paul my interest in economics has been piquéd and I am now attempting to read and research as much as possible on the subject. It is disgusting that Dr. Paul is the only candidate for President who seems to even have a grasp on these subjects, or at the very least the only one with the courage to tackle them head on. The rest have misled us all for years in a web of deceit and lies which has gotten us to these uncharted territories. Now we desperately grasp for air under the weight of a consumer nation of debt.

Dr. Paul’s straight-forward, common sense approach is so easily understandable. It is becoming ever clearer why his non-confrontational southern gentleman’s style has won over so many supporters. This man has a genuine love for this country, and especially our founding documents which are so readily overlooked today. We need more statesmen like Dr. Paul in politics and if he continues to get exposure like you have provided on your show, the message of liberty will have a chance to take root in our nation once again.

    Ms. Glick,

Thank you so much for that very informative interview with Congressman Paul. As a middle income mother of 4, I have grown very concerned about the state of our economy, and that interview opened my eyes to the reality of our situation. I have listened to every other candidates ideas on how to “fix” the problem, and the other 4 seem to say that we can fix it by doing more of the same.

Congressman Paul seems to be the only Candidate who speaks the truth about our situation, and truly UNDERSTANDS it. Please continue to keep us informed with interviews such as these. Thank you for requesting that Congressman Paul appear in person. I look forward to that interview.

As the economy worsens Dr Ron Paul’s message of “Drastic Change” becomes a more enlightening option for America. Please remember Americans that there is no “Fix it Pill” for our present economic situation. Dr Ron Paul’s message of change will require an immense amount of work on his part and the support of America. Dr Paul has never disguised the fact that change will be uncomfortable but is necessary to prevent the fall of America.
Please Alexis continue your efforts to get Dr Ron Paul’s message of change out there.

Thank you for your enligthening article on the economy with Dr. Paul. It seems that very few of the MSM have the stomach to take on the powers that be and you are to be commended for speaking the truth.

  65. Comment by K McCabe

    Dear Ms Glick -

I join the chorus in thanking you for an excellent interview of Dr. Ron Paul. Someone as educated and experienced as yourself MUST see that Dr. Paul’s answers to your questions are not evasive or dodging in nature. He brings a fat dose of the truth, even if others in positions of power (Bernake, et al) refuse to listen and continue to paint the economy with rosy colored lenses.

As a consumer, I can see inflation happening all around me. When I go to the store, I spend $100.00 for basic goods that cost $60.00 just a few yrs ago. What sucks for me and many others is that our incomes are not keeping pace with the actual rate of inflation. Many of us will go into more debt as we are forced to use creditcards to pay the bills, as it were, well eventually that credit card debt is going to explode. Unfortunately, Congress recently passed that horrible bankruptacy bill which will screw so many of us.

Well its not all doom and gloom - there are people like yourself and Dr Paul screaming like so many voices in the wilderness which make up the core of Dr. Paul’s grassroots support. We must get the message out to more people. You are doing your part and for that I thank you. Now if you can just talk to the other political hacks at your network and educate them as to why Dr Paul’s ideas are important for all of us. I am thinking here of the debate’s sponsored by Fox and the witch hunt Carl Cameron and others instigated against the good Doctor. Instead of asking him questions of vital importance like you did, they ask about 9-11 truthers and other assorted distractions. Tis a shame. If the economy is soooo important to the voters, why not have someone like you asking economic questions at various candidate forums and on the weekend news roundups?? Americans need to be told the truth if they are going to be expected to weather the upcoming financial storm.

Thanks again and keep up the good work.

Finally! … someone other than Ron Paul is willing to broach/talk about these issues. I would love to hear more from you on these macroeconomic topics. I don’t understand all of it, but the more and more I do understand the more and more I get concerned our gov’t has no clue what it’s doing. Should I be? Please help me and the rest of the world understand what is truly going on.

I would love to hear a couple smart economists debate the points of the economy (who knew economics could be so subjective…) I hear Ron Paul’s Austrian side of things, but I am unable to unearth the counter arguments that I assume the smart folks running our banking system must have… right? please tell me someone running our country knows better about these things than Ron Paul? or if that’s not true.. would love to know that as well.

    Dear Ms. Glick,

I am beyond impressed at the way you interviewed Dr. Ron Paul. May I say you are a beautiful person inside and out?

While most of the media completely ignores the fact that Dr. Paul is even running for President, you were respectful and asked him so many insightful things about the economy. I cannot think of a man more qualified to be our next President in every way, especially in these troubling times.

Bless you, Ms. Glick, and could you please have Dr. Paul on regularly? You would be helping this country more than you would ever know, and we would be eternally grateful.

    Thank you.
    Sincerely,
    A. Hayes, Georgia

    Alexis Glick:

Thank you for a wonderful interview with Dr. Ron Paul. It was refreshing to see him treated with respect & your commentary with him was truly incisive. You should definitely have more airtime. You are smart, observant, quick & actually know what you’re discussing (unlike other journalists at your network). Again, thank you for straight-forward journalism.

Thank you for your interview with candidate Ron Paul on February 28th. I would like to know more about recession, stagflation and inflationary depression… and what the best steps individual citizens should begin taking. Perhaps you will have Dr. Paul on again to further discuss these concerns. So far, in following the coming election, I have not heard anyone else speak with much knowledge on these issues. These are very real concerns as I notice that the stock market has had continuous trading days of downward slide, reports of mortgage failures, and dollar declines while crude oil has reached a record high, nearing $108 per barrel. I’m very concerned about my job and pension and the falling purchasing power of the dollar. Why do other candidates not know what is happening… or at least admit it and speak about it? What is happening and why is the public told by our President to go shopping? That doesn’t make sense.

    Sincerely,
    Gwen Kraft

You and Elizabeth are on to something. Because of your blog and then interview I watch your network instead of the others. About time people understand the problem we are facing.
Now the talk that maybe we are not going to have negative growth makes what the fed did even worse. Now to stop inflation they have to stop cutting and maybe start raising, causing more housing problems. Please make people aware there is such a thing a looking ahead.
